What are you doing now, and how did the SBT program prepare you for it?

Since graduating from the SBT program in 2023, I have been working as an Energy Advisor at Egnite Sustainability. The program equipped me with a diverse and practical skill set that enabled me to quickly adapt, expand my technical capabilities, and support my professional growth. Its broad technical curriculum and exposure to industry-standard software provided a strong foundation in both energy modelling and digital drafting.

What do you see as a key strength of the program?

A key strength of the program is its emphasis on emerging technologies alongside current industry practices. This focus has allowed me to effectively support and collaborate with builders who are committed to high-performance construction. The solid grounding in building science I gained through the program has enabled me to confidently consult and collaborate with a wide range of project stakeholders.

How has your education continued to support your career growth?

This educational background has also proven invaluable as I continue to advance my career, including expanding my expertise into Part 9 mechanical system design and Part 3 whole-building commissioning.

How does sustainability show up in your day-to-day work?

Sustainability is a core focus of my work in a number of ways, whether that involves supporting builders and developers by identifying practical, cost-effective pathways to achieve higher tiers of the BC Energy Step Code, or contributing to the development of industry best practices through my involvement with the CACEA (Canadian Association of Consulting Energy Advisors) Technical Committee.
